The world needs peacemakers: people who will standup for the cause of peace, who will not shirk in the face of constant talk of war and preparation for war, who will verbally speakout, rather shout-out: “WAR IS WRONG!”
Today is the day when leadership needs to emerge; leadership which bucks the popular acceptance, and trend towards global war; leadership which rebukes the narrative spun by the established powers that war is necessary to impose an ideology, or to defend economic interests. There is no act less democratic than war; there is no greater loss of economic resources than that which occurs during war.
All nations consist of warmakers and peacemakers. The warmakers currently are winning the ideological battles which support war: both within the military-industrial complexes, and among the people who, flooded with the nonstop violence in videogames, movies, TV series, politicalspeak, and elsewhere, have succumbed to the acceptance of war as natural to the human state of being, as a baser instinct which cannot be overcome. It is this latter thought which must be overcome.
Most, I believe, struggle in their daily lives to achieve a higher moral ground, but then succumb to the idea of the inevitably of war. If, as individuals, we can achieve a higher moral ground, then nations can do the same, and reject war. But the peacemakers must speak-up, against war, grow our numbers, and unite with peacemakers across the globe to avoid war.
Take a stand for peace. Do it for the soldier, the children, for all human beings. If we are to avoid global war, it is up to the peacemakers to take a stand for peace.
Peace is possible!
